Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan again broke the diplomatic protocol at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held on Thursday in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

In a video shared on Pakistan’s official Twitter account, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Khan saw seats, while everyone else rose to greet the head of state entering the room. Realizing that he was perhaps the only one to sit down, he got up briefly before sitting down before the others.
Khan had already broken the diplomatic protocol at the 14th OIC summit held in Saudi Arabia earlier this month.
During a meeting with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on the sidelines of the summit, Khan spoke with Salman’s interpreter and withdrew before the message could be translated to the king. The video was widely broadcast on social media and Khan was criticized by both his compatriots and Saudi Arabia for apparently disrespecting the king.
Khan and leaders of SCO member states, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are attending the two-day summit to be held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
